Inside Sales Position

For Established Community Weekly and New Business Magazine

The Riverside Reader, a weekly newspaper established in 1994, is mailed to over 75,000 people each week in Iberville, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge and eastern St. Landry Parishes. The publication is looking for an Inside Advertising Sales Professional to join our growing advertising sales department. Our office is in Port Allen, Louisiana, about 2 miles from the new Mississippi River Bridge.

In addition to its established weekly publication, the Riverside Reader is launching a new business magazine this fall. This magazine will be distributed primarily in East Baton Rouge, Livingston, and Ascension parishes. It will include an accompanying website. 

As an Inside Advertising Sales Professional, you will sell advertising solutions to potential clients, prospect for new business and secure new advertising clients to meet defined sales goals. You would build and maintain customer relationships, prepare formal advertising proposals for prospective and existing clients, and prepare and review advertising contracts. This is a fun, but challenging position that requires an individual who is people-oriented and willing to work hard.

This is a full-time or part-time position. As a full-time position, this position includes benefits, including health and dental insurance, vacation and a retirement plan. The compensation will vary from project to project but is generally based on gross sales.

Initial responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, building the Classified Advertising section of our weekly newspaper.

Previous media sales experience or outbound telemarketing experience is a definite plus but not essential. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are a must. You must have reliable transportation to and from our office. The ideal candidate must have exceptional communication and selling skills, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a desire to grow with us.
